Yaoi Magazine is an 18+ magazine with a sole focus on male/male homosexual relationships, romantic to steamy. If you are not aware of what Yaoi is, this is not the outlet for your work. We publish regardless of background, experience, gender or sexual orientation. If it makes us squeal like the fans we are, you're in!

Yaoi Magazine will be accepting submissions for publication in Vol. 1 Issue 2 until March 1.

General Guidelines:

Yaoi Magazine is a Western, English speaking fans' lifestyle magazine. In each print addition there will be beautiful manga by some of the best Western Mangaka artists, plus great fiction that will range from steamy to sweet. Don't miss the hot Bishonen Pretty Boy Centerfold or the amazing articles that will go beyond the fiction and into everyday life!

Items that will NOT be considered for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:

Any items infringing upon copyright, such as fanfiction, roleplays, or stories using other peoples' characters or worlds.

Sexual situations involving minors.

Stories or art featuring furries or anthropomorphic characters.

Stories not focused on male characters or stories that include graphic sex scenes featuring straight couples.

And please, just don't be squicky! Please note, we will occasionally accept fanart or fanfiction for publication, but due to copyright we are unable to pay for these items. They are simply considered a means of expressing a fans appreciation for the genre. If you have further questions, contact us.

This is a magazine for the global fans' lifestyle, but is targeted at english speaking fans. Therefore, all submissions must be in english.

We accept only original, unpublished works. This means it may not have appeared anywhere else online, in print, in media archives, free-to-read sites or the like--when in doubt, ask us! Exceptions may be made at our discretion.

For fiction, we purchase First North American Serial Rights and First Electronic Rights, with the option to purchase again at current rate and reprint in future issues. Once purcased, the fiction may not appear in print for six months after the issue is printed that contain the work. The centerfold image and articles/reviews are work for hire only.

Manga:

To submit original manga, please send a sample page or two with a synopsis of the story and a full script. It must be a stand-alone story. We will publish between 20-40 pages of manga per issue. Feel free to send along anything you feel is important in helping us understand your comic.

Pay rate is $5 USD per black-and-white page, plus two copies of the issue the work appears in.

Fiction:

All fictional works must be original and previously unpublished. Currently, all works must be stand alone. We publish stories from short drabbles (500 words) to lengths of 25,000 words. Please write to us regarding longer stories. Payment can range between $0.0025 (1/4 of a cent) to $0.01 USD per word.

Articles/Reviews:

All articles and reviews are on a work for hire basis and payment will vary. To submit an article or review please write to us first with the concept and idea to receive the go ahead. All articles and reviews MUST be in line with Yaoi LIFESTYLE Magazine, which means they do not have to be about Yaoi but of interest to a Yaoi fan.

Current article themes include Hey Guys!, Lust & Romance, We're So Over You, Pretty Boy Pick, and They're Not A Couple (But They Should Be!).

Centerfold Art:

This is a work for hire position. The center page of the magazine will be a stunning original artwork image in full color. Please contact us with your concept, a sketch, as well as a payment quote. This is a great opportunity for an artist to showcase their skills! Additionally, the centerfold artist of each issue will have a small feature about them including details on how to contact them for commissions.
